Hi @zidan2009,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Frequent crashes and freezes on your HP computer, particularly during gaming sessions, can be frustrating but are often solvable. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix the issue.

  • Check for Overheating: Overheating is a common cause of crashes during gaming. Ensure that your computer's vents are clear of dust and debris, and that the fans are working properly. Consider using a laptop cooling pad or improving airflow for desktop PCs.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause crashes during gaming. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers for your specific model.
  • Update Windows and Drivers: Ensure that Windows and all your device drivers are up to date. Windows updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements that can address crashing issues.
  • Check for Malware: Run a full system scan with a reputable antivirus program to check for malware or viruses that may be causing the crashes.
  • Adjust Graphics Settings: Lowering in-game graphics settings can reduce the strain on your computer's hardware, potentially preventing crashes. Experiment with different settings to find a balance between performance and visual quality.
  • Monitor System Resources: Use monitoring software like Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) or third-party tools like MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU and GPU usage, as well as temperatures, while gaming. High usage or overheating could indicate a hardware problem.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, it could indicate a hardware issue such as a failing hard drive, faulty RAM, or a malfunctioning graphics card. Run diagnostic tests to check for hardware problems.
  • Clean Install Windows: If all else fails, consider performing a clean install of Windows to rule out any software-related issues. Backup your important files before proceeding with a clean install.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and fix the crashing and freezing issues on your HP computer, especially during gaming sessions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
