Don't know
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My Daughter has an HP laptop, that was given to her by a friend, running windows 8 64bit. it recently quit booting. After fiels stripping it a few times to try and locae a power issue, I noticed the caps lock key was blinking 2 times then stop and repeat.Corrupted bios is the answer. I tried the Bios recovery to no avail. I mounted the hard drive on my personal laptop and the partition structure was weird. there were 5 or 6 different partitions, some with names and drive letters, others without. Many of them are labeled "Recovery". I found the one that contained the Bios recovery and update files but I don't know how to flash the bios. IUI came here to find a bios flash utility, but I gress that part of the operating system. Could someone tell me the proper Partition and file structure for the UEFI recovery volume, or better yet, how i can use the bios "bin" file to replace the corrupt bios. Heck, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My only suggestion would be to create a BIOS recovery flash drive following step 3 by downloading replacement BIOS file from your HP support page, then proceed with step 4 given in this document to recover from BIOS recovery flash drive: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_3932413-2337994-16
