@fayzkamran, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're describing with the HP Laptop 15s-fq2000 and the "Driver PNP WATCHDOG" error, combined with BitLocker recovery not functioning and bootable USB not detecting the disk, is a complex one. It typically points to a critical driver or storage controller failure, often related to Intel Optane or Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve this:
Understand the Root Cause
- The Driver PNP WATCHDOG error usually occurs due to:
- Corrupt or incompatible storage drivers (especially Intel RST or Optane).
- Sudden shutdowns causing disk corruption.
- Windows updates (like 24H2) introducing driver conflicts.
Access BIOS and Change Storage Mode
- Enter BIOS (press Esc or F10 repeatedly at startup).
- Navigate to System Configuration > SATA Operation or Storage Options.
- If it's set to RAID/Optane, change it to AHCI.
- Save and exit BIOS.
Changing this may cause BitLocker to prompt for the recovery key. Make sure you have it.
Use Bootable USB with Correct Drivers
- Create a Windows 11 bootable USB using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.
- Download Intel RST drivers for your model from the HP support site.
- Extract the drivers to a separate USB.
- Boot from the Windows USB, and when it asks for a drive, click Load Driver and point to the RST driver USB.
If Disk Still Not Detected
- Try using DiskPart from the command prompt in the Windows installer:
- Press Shift + F10 to open CMD.
- Type:
diskpart
list disk
- If no disk appears, it's likely a driver or hardware issue.
If System Shuts Down During Driver Load
- This could indicate:
- Overheating or power issues.
- Failing SSD or motherboard.
- Try the same process on another USB port or with a different USB stick.
- If possible, test the SSD in another machine.
BitLocker Recovery Not Working
- If BitLocker screen appears but fails to load:
- It may be due to corrupted boot files or TPM issues.
- Try disabling Secure Boot in BIOS temporarily.
- If you have the BitLocker key, you can try decrypting the drive using another PC.
If none of the above works:
- Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool on another PC to create a recovery USB specific to your model.
- If the laptop still fails to boot or shuts down during recovery, it may need hardware servicing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
