HP Laptop PC 15-dy2000 (2D115AV)

Hello,

I've been struggling with this issue for about 3 days now, I've tried all the things it says to do online but nothing seems to work. I have tried doing the scans, all of them pass. I have done the other things it has said to try as well such as shutting it down 2-3 times but the menu does not pop up for me. I have gotten the automatic repair option but it says that an error occurred and will restart itself. I'm not exactly sure what else to do and I'm trying to fix it myself before I let someone else do it at a cost. I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Thank you in advance if possible but if not I still appreciate the help.

Hi @Eighties,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that your HP Laptop PC 15-dy2000 is displaying the DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG (0x1D5) error and that Automatic Repair is also unable to complete.

You mentioned that you have already run several scans and they all passed. Could you please let us know which tests you ran and where you ran them from?

Since Windows and Automatic Repair are not starting correctly, I recommend running the hardware diagnostics outside Windows:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
  3. When the Startup Menu appears, press F2.
  4. In HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, run the available system/component tests.
  5. For the drive, select Component Tests > Storage and run the available storage test.

HP recommends using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI when the computer cannot boot into Windows, because the tests run outside the operating system and can help isolate a hardware problem from an operating-system or software issue.

If any test fails, please provide the 24-digit Failure ID displayed by HP Diagnostics.

If all the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics pass, please let us know, along with whether you can currently reach the Windows sign-in screen or if the computer always stops at Automatic Repair/DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG. We can then proceed with the appropriate Windows recovery troubleshooting rather than repeating hardware tests.

Take care and have a good day!

I'm an HP Employee.
