Hello. I have an HP Envy x360-13-ar0098au laptop. I updated to Windows 11 from Windows 10 a long time ago. I am experiencing my cursor freezing on my screen, and then the computer goes to a blue screen saying "Thread stuck in disk driver " and then it restarts. This has been getting more frequent so I checked solutions online. One of the solutions was to update the driver or BIOS. I went to HP support to find driver updates available for my product but they don't have drivers for Windows 11. Please tell me what I should do and how I can update my driver. Will updating the driver fix this problem?

Hi @Tirushi123,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
First, update your graphics and chipset drivers. Since HP doesn’t list Windows 11 drivers, try these methods:
A. Use Windows Update: Go to Settings > Windows Update, click Check for updates, and install any available driver updates.
B. Use Device Manager: Press Win + X, select Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, right-click your GPU (AMD Radeon), select Update Driver, and choose Search automatically. Do the same for IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers (related to disk drivers).
C. Download Drivers from Manufacturer Websites: If no updates are available through Windows, get drivers from AMD’s website: AMD Support. Select Processors with Graphics, then find your processor model.
Next, update your BIOS (firmware). Go to HP’s website: HP Support, enter your laptop model, and check for BIOS updates under "Firmware." Download and install if available.
To run Windows Disk Check & System File Checker, open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: chkdsk /f /r
Press Enter, type Y, and restart your PC. To check for corrupted system files, open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: sfc /scannow
Wait for it to complete and restart your PC.
If the issue started after a recent update, roll back the updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history, click Uninstall updates, and remove recent updates.
To perform a clean boot, press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter. Go to Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, click Disable all, then go to the Startup tab, open Task Manager, and disable startup programs. Restart your PC and check if the issue persists.
As a last resort, consider resetting or reinstalling Windows. Go to Settings > System > Recovery, click Reset this PC, and choose Keep my files.
Try these steps and let me know if you need further help! 😊
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
