hello im new here. im trying to figure out how come in the F9 boot menu my disc drive with a os disk in it, is not listed but in bios i have set cd drive to first start up. the hdd crashed and wont boot so im trying to boot from a cd but it spins the disk but doesnt boot from it. i have went in to dignostics and the hdd fails every time but the cd drive passes every time so i would think it would boot from a disk. thanks for any help.
ps i have tried F11 recovery and it does nothing

Please provide a complete product name or product number.
dv6 covers many notebooks and is not a specific enough description.
How many years have you had your notebook?
I suspect a dv6 notebook would be five years+.
