Pavilion dv8
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

While changing boot device order in the BIOS, I thought I would try to get rid of the need for a password so in the security menu, I selected ADMIN PASSWORD, entered my old password, reentered it, and in the new password box just hit ENTER, and again in the reenter box, I just hit ENTER.  The menu then said <clear> rather than <set>.  I assumed I was successful, and hit f10.  Now the password box still comes up but nothing I input works.  The halt code is 50397714.

Two questions then, what is the magic number to get back in, and how do I disable the need for any password at all?

When prompted for password try 45095330 This should also clear any passwords.

Doubly miraculous.  Two solutions with one answer.  Which brings a new question - what magic hat did you pull this from?
