laptop is not recognizing the hard drive in the bios, and is not booting.
My best guess is to purchase anew drive
where can i purchase a new drive ? Do i have to buy it with the Os INSTALLED ? OR how is the process ?
if i buy a clean drive with no windows how do I install windows ?

Hi:
You can buy a replacement drive on any major retailer's website such as Best Buy or Amazon.
The specs for your notebook indicate that it comes with a 1 TB drive.

Assuming the drive is bad, this would be a compatible replacement...
Hard drives are not sold with operating systems included, so here is how you can reinstall Windows...
After you replace the drive, you can with another working Windows PC and a 32 GB USB flash drive, make a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC, using the HP Cloud recovery tool.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility.
