Several previous threads seemed to end with solutions of send to HP (fix costing half as much as the computer per tech support). After a successful initial fix of removing, dusting off and  re-securing the SSD it became loose again. I used some high heat resistant electric tape to secure the SSD so it sits in the port better. Has booted up each time after.  This was a 2017 model that also had to have fans replaced.

Hope this helps you

I don't understand your issue -- as the HP specs say your PC came with an m.2 SSD and those screw directly into the motherboard so they don't work loose.  If yours is missing those screws, that explains why it keeps working loose.

It is intuited

1.  The boot error is random until it is more consistent.
2.  Moving the computer seems to increase the frequency of error

3. Removing and resecuring the ssd solves the problem for a short period of time

4. Placing a binder clip over a portion of the case or holding it with a slight asymmetric pressure seems to improve boot up

5. Securing the ssd with tape seems to help so far.

you are right there is a screw that secures the ssd vertically but may not offer enough horizontal pressure to properly seat the ssd.
