@MIKEREEDD, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Victus Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are steps to enter Safe Mode and resolve issues using the Command Prompt, specifically tailored for HP systems:

Enter Safe Mode on an HP Victus Laptop

  1. Restart your computer: Click on the Windows icon and select 'Restart' while holding the Shift key.
  2. Access Advanced Startup: Upon restart, select "Troubleshoot" -> "Advanced options" -> "Startup Settings".
  3. Choose Safe Mode: When your computer restarts and displays Startup Settings, press 4 or F4 to enter Safe Mode.

Use Command Prompt to Fix Issues

Once in Safe Mode, you can use the Command Prompt to attempt repairs:

Open Command Prompt in Safe Mode:

  • Select "Troubleshoot" -> "Advanced options" -> "Command Prompt".

Run System File Checker:

  • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan and repair corrupted system files.

Check Disk for Errors:

  • Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. You may be asked to restart to allow the scan to occur.

Update Drivers:

  • Sometimes, this issue can be related to outdated drivers. Ensure all drivers are up to date via Device Manager.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
