Hello! My problem is the following (hp pavilion gaming 15-ec1011nh). Whether I try to boot from ssd or usb, the laptop turns off after 10-60 seconds. All (F2) tests are good, battery 86%. It never turns off during tests. It never turns off in Bios.

It seems like your HP Pavilion Gaming 15 is shutting down unexpectedly when trying to boot from an SSD or USB, but stays on fine during BIOS and tests. This could be a power issue, an overheating issue, or a possible problem with the booting devices themselves.

 

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help narrow down the cause.


  • Check Power Settings: In BIOS, make sure that power settings such as sleep or hibernation are disabled. Sometimes these settings can cause the system to shut down unexpectedly.
  • Test Without Battery: Remove the battery and try to boot your laptop directly from the power adapter. This can help rule out a battery issue.
  • Reseat the SSD and USB Drive: Sometimes, loose connections can cause power failures when booting from storage devices. Reseat your SSD and any USB drives you’re trying to boot from.
  • Check for Overheating: Even though it stays on during the F2 tests, there could be a heat-related issue that triggers the shutdown when under load (such as during booting). Ensure the cooling system is working properly and clean any dust from vents or fans.
  • Test with a Different USB or SSD: If possible, try booting from a different USB drive or SSD to eliminate the possibility of a corrupted boot image or a faulty external drive.
  • Reset BIOS: Sometimes, a BIOS reset can resolve boot-related issues. You can reset it to default settings by using the "Restore Defaults" option in the BIOS menu.
