Hi,
I have recently bought HP Spectre X360 Convertible laptop last month from US.
I have observed it overheats a lot on middle of the keyboard near function keys within 10-20 minutes I start using it.
from other HP forum I have already tried HP CoolSense but it does not help..
It is really sad experience to buy one of latest product and face this kind of issue.
appreciate if anyone can help here.
Regards
Harry

Same issue here but I have had my x360 for some time...the issue started rently with the latest Win10 build/latest firmware. The issue seems to be related to the power management (is isn't sleeping properly) changing the power plan to use hibernate instead sleep has worked as a "workaround" for me.
The same issue plagues the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 devices. MSFT made fixes for those devices recently but I think the same issue now presents itself in other models as MSFT tries to make Win10 do more and more things in low power states like sleep....Can't proove any of the theory but I evaluate hardware for a large Coproration (over 100k desktop/laptops in the company) and I have 18 different models in my test lab and over half of them see the same power management problems in Win10 all starting with the January/February Windows 10 updates.

Hello freinds i am also having the same problem with my spectre x360 bought about 8 months back . I have tried everything about the heating issue , i cant solve it . So i have done extreme steps to solve it . It didnt solve it bcoz of a simple reason that the processor is always running at full speed .
You can watch the processor speed at HW monitor . So the simple solution to the problem is Fresh install windows 10 in your spectre by removing all recovery partitions everything and fresh install. The lappy runs very cooly . Dont forget to back up . Now it runs excellently smooth.
Try it guys it works . Cheers

Hi Naveen, I purchased the laptop yesterday and have noticed considerable heat near the hinge (more on the left side). How is your laptop performing now? I will reinstall the OS if it really helps this cool down!!

I was shocked how the x360 fan spun up loudly almost immediately after launched it up for the first time. The fan noise at full speed is loud enough to make the laptop unusable in any quiet space, so I was already considering returning the thing to the store after just an hour of use.
Fortunately these tips seem to have helped ease the problem to a tolerable level (for now, at least):
1. Install BIOS and all driver updates from HP Support Assistant. Especially the RealTek audio driver seems to be important, as that has been observed to drive up the CPU even when idling.
2. Set the System Cooling Policy to 'Passive' from Windows Power Options (Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings -> Processor power management -> System cooling policy).
Still, even with these changes, the ventilation intake is plased on the bottom, which means the CPU gets no air if you use the laptop on your lap, on a pillow, or on a blanket. So this laptop is not usable as a laptop, because if overheats if you use it on you lap.
Let's just say may next 1000+ euro laptop won't be from HP.
