@sakhil, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP 255 15.6 inch G9 Notebook PC (50J79AV).

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If your HP 255 15.6-inch G9 Notebook PC is experiencing power-on issues, with no display and a blinking caps lock key, it often indicates a hardware problem, potentially related to the memory or motherboard. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

  1. Count the Blinks:

    • Note the number of blinks or flashes on the caps lock key, as it may provide a code indicating the issue (e.g., a certain number of blinks could point to memory, processor, or other hardware failures).
  2. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Disconnect any external devices and remove the battery (if removable).
    • Unplug the power adapter.
    • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery, plug in the power adapter, and turn on the laptop.
  3. Check the Memory Modules:

    • If you're comfortable doing so, try reseating the memory modules:
      • Power off the laptop and remove the battery and power adapter.
      • Open the RAM compartment. You may need a small screwdriver for this.
      • Take out each memory module and reinsert it, ensuring secure placement.
      • Replace the cover, reinsert the battery, and power on the laptop.
  4. External Display Test:

    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the internal display.
    • If the external display works, your laptop's screen might need repair or replacement.
  5. BIOS Recovery:

    • Restart the laptop and immediately begin pressing the "F2" key to enter System Diagnostics for running tests.
    • Alternatively, use "Windows key + B" while pressing and holding the power button for 2-3 seconds to initiate a BIOS recovery.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
