Hi @jocelyn26,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP Stream laptop 11 appears to be on (indicated by power lights or other signs), but the screen is blank or it won't fully boot up, you can try several troubleshooting steps to identify and potentially resolve the issue.
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Remove the power adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge.
- Reconnect the power adapter and try turning on the laptop again.
2. Check for Display Issues
- External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable.
- Switch the display mode by pressing Fn + F4 (or the relevant function key) to toggle between display modes.
3. Inspect Power and Battery
- Battery Check:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power source.
- If possible, remove the battery (if it's removable) and then try powering the laptop with only the power adapter connected.
- Reinsert the battery and try powering on the laptop again.
4. Boot into Safe Mode
- Safe Mode Boot:
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and repeatedly press the F8 key (or Esc and then F8) until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Select Safe Mode and see if the laptop boots up.
5. Reset the BIOS
- BIOS Reset:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for an option to reset to default settings (usually found under the "Exit" or "Save & Exit" menu).
- Save the changes and exit.
Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @jocelyn26,
Please find the next set of steps below.
6. Check for Loose Components
- Inspect Components:
- Turn off the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
- Carefully open the back panel (if you're comfortable doing so) to check for any loose connections, especially the RAM and storage drive.
- Reseat any loose components.
7. Perform a System Recovery (Back up data before you proceed)
- System Recovery:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and repeatedly press the F11 key to enter the recovery mode.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a system recovery. Note that this might erase your data, so proceed with caution.
If none of the above steps work, there may be a more serious hardware issue that requires repair. Contact HP phone support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
