Envy 14 u213cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop worked great, I printed a document and then about 40 minutes later it would not boot up out of sleep mode.  When I try to power off or up the power button light just blinks on and off.  I tried unplugging, removing the battery and holding the power button for 1 minute and then plugging back.  I did this with just the battery and just the power cord and even tried a new battery with no luck.  It just won't boot up.  Is it time for a new laptop or can it be saved?  What else can I try?

@rhud450

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY 14-u213cl Notebook and it is facing issues powering up. The power button light blinks (on and off). You have been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills and valuable patience. Kudos to you for that.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did any updates happen recently on the laptop?
  • Did any hardware changes take place?

During my research, I came across the BIOS rollback option. This should allow us to rollback the BIOS if there is an corruption in the existing BIOS that could be preventing the laptop from powering on. Please perform the steps mentioned in "Step 1: Recover the BIOS using a key press combination" from this HP document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted for further assistance.

Cheers! 🙂

You might have a bad Memory Port

Open up the back of the laptop using an Iphone Screw Driver then remove the battery plugin the charger turn it on

if you get a black screen remove the memory cards one by one and test both on each port if the monitor is black when the power button stops blinking

i was able to put the battery back in and turn it on fine after i remove the memory card from the bad memory port!!
