Hi @CHEN254,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP PC takes too long to boot, it could be due to several common issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you speed things up:
1. Disable Startup Programs
Too many apps launching at startup can slow down boot time.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab.
- Right-click and disable unnecessary programs (e.g., Spotify, OneDrive, Zoom).
2. Enable Fast Startup
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Check Turn on fast startup.
3. Update Windows and Drivers
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all updates.
- Use HP Support Assistant to update BIOS and drivers.
4. Check for Malware
- Run a full scan using Windows Security or a trusted antivirus.
5. Free Up Disk Space
- Open Settings > System > Storage.
- Use Storage Sense to clean up temporary files and old updates.
6. Defragment Your Hard Drive (HDD only)
- Search for Defragment and Optimize Drives.
- Select your drive and click Optimize.
⚠️ Skip this if you have an SSD—it doesn’t need defragmentation.
7. Check for Disk Errors
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: chkdsk /f /r
- Press Enter and restart your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
