Hi @fvan5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the battery not detecting.

Have you made any changes to your PC hardware or software (OS)?

Is that the original battery you are using or replaced?

Are you getting any errors?

If your HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k022dx Sleekbook is not detecting the battery, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut Down the Laptop: Turn off your laptop completely.
  2. Disconnect Power and Remove Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out. If not, skip this step.
  3. Press and Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  4. Reconnect Power: If you removed the battery, reconnect it. Plug in the power adapter.
  5. Power On: Turn on the laptop and check if the battery is now detected.

2. Update Battery Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager: Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  2. Expand Battery Section: Locate and expand the "Batteries" section.
  3. Update Battery Drivers:
    • Right-click on "Microsoft AC Adapter" and select "Update driver."
    • Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Update driver."
  4. Restart Laptop: Restart your laptop to apply the changes.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Battery Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Uninstall Battery Drivers:
    • Right-click on "Microsoft AC Adapter" and select "Uninstall device."
    • Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall device."
  3. Restart Laptop: Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.

4. Check Battery Health in BIOS

  1. Enter BIOS:
    • Shut down your laptop.
    • Turn it on and immediately press the F10 key repeatedly until the BIOS setup utility opens.
  2. Check Battery Health: Look for a section related to battery information and check the battery status.
  3. Save and Exit: Save any changes (if any) and exit the BIOS.

Kindly find the next set of steps in the post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @fvan5,

Kindly find the next set of steps below.

5. Update BIOS and Drivers

  1. Visit HP Support: Go to the HP Customer Support.
  2. Enter Your Model: Enter your laptop model (HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k022dx Sleekbook) to find the correct support page.
  3. Download BIOS and Drivers: Download and install the latest BIOS update and any relevant drivers, especially power management drivers.

6. Test with a Different Power Adapter and Battery

If possible, try using a different power adapter and/or battery to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the battery or the laptop itself.

7. Perform Battery Test Using HP Diagnostics

  1. HP Support Assistant: If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and go to "Battery Check" to run a battery diagnostic test.
  2. HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Turn it on and repeatedly press the Esc key until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the "Component Tests" and select "Battery" to check its status.

8. Check for Physical Damage

Inspect the battery and battery connectors for any physical damage or dirt. Clean the connectors with a dry, soft cloth if necessary.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the battery or the laptop's power management system. Contact HP Phone Support for service options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
