Hi @Toyin1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Spectre x360 is skipping the fingerprint and PIN login after a shutdown, which is unusual behavior. Here are a few things you can check to troubleshoot this issue.
Check Sign-In Options:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Ensure that both Require sign-in and Dynamic Lock are set according to your preferences. The Require sign-in option should be set to "When PC wakes up from sleep" or "Every time."
Review Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Require a password on wakeup and ensure that the settings are set to require a password.
Check Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows is up to date, as updates might resolve issues with sign-in options. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Verify BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or ESC during startup).
- Look for settings related to security and make sure they are configured correctly.
Review User Account Settings:
- Sometimes, issues with user accounts or corrupted profiles can cause sign-in problems. Consider creating a new user profile to see if the problem persists.
Check for System Errors:
- Run the System File Checker tool. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and enter sfc /scannow to check for and repair any corrupted system files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
