@Nyaeem -- I have seen too many threads on this discussion forum about "a failed BIOS Update turned my computer into a brick".  So, I recommend that you not try to update the BIOS, out of fear that you might change a working computer into a non-working computer.

Hello Nyaeem,

Kindly recheck the model and BIOS you have.

BIOS Q81 Ver. 01.07.00  ->> this belongs to HP EliteBook 735 G5
HP MT44 Mobile Thin client BIOS should be Q79
Do not try to install wrong BIOS on the unit, it would end up damaging the mother board of the unit.

Yes.. My mt44 has bios ver. Q79. After fail bios update, my mt44 screen off when It's power on. Then i took it to the hp customers service centre in my local area. They had worked and after that i found that it’s bios version Q81 instead of Q79. At present it works. But my mt44 touch doesn't work. How can i back to the previous bios version Q79 from Q81?

Q79 and Q81 are the system board versions used for similar models that are only compatible with their respective BIOS. It looks like since the internals are compatible someone has used the Elitebook mother board on the MT44 which caused the BIOS to change.

The only option you could try is to verify if the info on the system board is correct or not. You can go to https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx enter the Serial number of the Mt44 unit. Check the details like FeatureByte and Build ID on this website and compare the same with the info you have in the BIOS info or Advanced info. If they are different take the unit back to the same ASP to get the correct info added to get the touch function back.

The internal components of the laptops are not plug and play and are controlled by the motherboard using a code that is entered while adding the Serial & product number on the replacement motherboard. If this info is not entered correctly the touch would get disabled by default. HP uses specific tools to unlock the motherboard to make it ready to enter the info and also has specific tools that helps to add the info to the mother board and lock it. Its only available for HP Repair Centers and Authorized Service Providers.
