Hi @cosy2
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP ENVY 13-ad102nb after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2 (a feature update). Specifically, after rebooting, the touchpad and keyboard (klavier) aren't responding, but after performing a hard reset (holding the power button), they start working again.
This could be caused by a driver conflict, a system bug introduced by the update, or a settings issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Check for Driver Updates
After a major Windows update, sometimes drivers can become outdated or incompatible. Make sure that your touchpad and keyboard drivers are up to date.
- Update drivers via Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Look for the Mice and other pointing devices section and Keyboards section.
- Right-click on each device (touchpad and keyboard), then select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to update the drivers if newer versions are available.
- HP Support Assistant:
- If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and check for any available updates for your system, including device drivers.
- Download drivers from HP:
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop's model number (HP ENVY 13-ad102nb).
- Download the latest drivers for the touchpad (likely a Synaptics or Windows Precision Touchpad driver) and keyboard.
2. Reinstall the Touchpad and Keyboard Drivers
Sometimes, the drivers may become corrupted, and reinstalling them can help resolve the issue.
- Uninstall and reinstall drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the Touchpad and Keyboard entries.
- Select Uninstall device and confirm the uninstallation.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
3. Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, additional updates can be released shortly after a major feature update to address issues like the one you're facing.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates.
- Install any new updates that may have been released to fix bugs or compatibility issues.
4. Run the Windows Troubleshooters
Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can automatically detect and fix common hardware and device issues.
- Run the Keyboard and Touchpad troubleshooters:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Click on Keyboard and Run the troubleshooter.
- Do the same for the Touchpad (if available).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to see if Windows finds and fixes any issues.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
