Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

hp pavilion x360 convertible pc model 11-u018ca

P/N: W7D57UA#ABL

Symptom: No power light at all. Working fine one day, dead the next.

Power supply: The power supply is good (19.9 V on my test meter). Power supply works with another HP laptop and tried that other laptop's power supply with this computer but no difference.

Connection: No physical damage to power connection either of the power supply or the computer. Power connector fit is good and snug (no wiggles). Checked this as per https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Stream-11-d000-Notebook-PC/7372144/model/7538971/document/c0...

Other tests: Tried long hold on power button but no sign of life.

This will not work for everyone, but you may be lucky?

HP Notebooks and Mobile Workstations -
No Power, No Boot, No Display When Power Button Is Pressed

NOTE: Be sure the battery is installed in the computer and it has sufficient power before continuing. Due to the design of the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller, the power supply must be disconnected and the computer must be powered with battery power to reset the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller.

Unplug the AC power from the computer.
Press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds.
Release the power button (after at least 12 seconds).
The computer will power on and should boot normally after releasing the power button.
Re-connect the AC power to the computer.

NOTE: In case the battery is not charging after performing the steps to reset the Embedded Controller, unplug and re-plug in the AC power again.

Thanks Lil_Boy_Blue but the long press has no effect either with or without the power supply connected.

Hi

Well this wont work either...

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

I am assuming that the keyboard is non-responsive.

Correct. The laptop is completely unresponsive. No power light and it ignores the power button regardless of duration of press.

I'm wondering if it is coincidental that HP has several videos on YouTube demonstrating how to change the power switch board and adverts for power switch boards come near the top in searches! Anyone from HP care to confirm that this is a likely cause?

Out of ideas.
