Hi @Simon_Ford,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the error messages after a Windows update and HP BIOS update!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Identify the Error Messages:
- Please provide the specific error codes or messages you're seeing. This will help identify the issue more accurately.
Enter BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS settings.
- Check if there's an option to reset BIOS settings to default or optimized defaults.
Revert BIOS Update:
- If possible, revert to the previous BIOS version if the update caused instability. Check the HP Support website for instructions on flashing an older BIOS version if available.
Check Boot Order:
- In BIOS settings, verify that the boot order is correct and set to boot from your primary hard drive.
Safe Mode Boot:
- Try booting into Windows Safe Mode to identify if the issue is with drivers or software.
- Restart your computer and press Shift + F8 or go through Advanced Startup to access Safe Mode.
Windows Recovery:
- Access the Windows Recovery Environment (by pressing Shift while clicking Restart) to attempt Startup Repair or System Restore to a point before the updates.
Driver Updates:
- Once booted into Windows, check for any pending driver updates via Device Manager or go to HP Support to install the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.
Check for OS Updates:
- Ensure all Windows updates are applied, as sometimes cumulative updates can resolve conflicts after a BIOS update.
I hope this helps.
