Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have encrypted my Windows 10 Home system partition on my laptop using VeraCrypt. Microsoft wants too much (~$100) just so I can have a feature that any laptop should have to have from the get go. Anyways After encrypting and finding I can boot into Windows if i push F9 at boot and select the EFI file that is in \EFI\VeraCrypt\DcsBoot.efi VeraCrypt asks for the password after I do it boots into Windows 10. If I don't push F9 it will boot into the HP automated repair system. I have tried changing the bootloader configuration using bcdedit but it doesn't work either. VeraCrypt has suggested installing their custom secure boot keys but I am unable to do so because I do not know how on this particular model. Can someone please help with some solution?

I understand you want help configuring custom secure boot using VeraCrypt on your HP PC. I'll try my best to help you with this,

VeraCrypt is a third party program which HP does not support, so I would suggest you contact them and check if they have a password removal option or to decrypt it.

If they don't have one, then the only option left would be to perform a System recovery using a recovery media. Please remember to backup your data before initiating system recovery.

The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

I am able to get into the drive and boot windows but I have to select the file to boot from (after pressing F9 you can pick the EFI boot file). I am mot able to get the machine to default boot from the VeraCrypt EFI file. It always goes to the advanced recovery even tho everything works (if manually selected). I need a way for the bootloader to load the VeraCrypt DcsBoot.efi file.

Hi @PhantomStranger,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you are able to boot into the windows but you need to select the file. Don't worry as I have a suggestion which should help you with this issue,

You could launch msconfig (Press Windows key + R - in the Run command type in msconfig and hit OK) and check under the general tab as to which option is selected, ensure you have normal startup selected.

If the issue still persists, I would personally suggest you contact Veracrypt for further assistance.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.
