HP ENVY 17t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC

got this back after a year of it sitting and had it working and all of the sudden the drives in the bays wouldnt work. so i bought an adapter and they work from the optical drive connector but not the ribbon cable sockets (replaced ribbon cables twice) could this be a bios lockout or just dead hardware on the board?

i would like to fix this since its faster than my toshiba s75 currently

bios is refusing to update. probably related to the not being able to enter the bios or hp recover section of the chip (sorry about slow response. my car decided it would be funny to blow up its transmission)
