Hi @javeriasafdar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the touchpad on your HP laptop is not working and the pointer does not appear on the screen, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check if the touchpad is enabled:

  • Some laptops have a physical switch or button to enable/disable the touchpad. Ensure that the touchpad is not disabled. Refer to your laptop's user manual for instructions on how to enable the touchpad.

Function key combination:

  • Many laptops have a function key (usually labeled as "Fn") that, when pressed in combination with another key, toggles the touchpad on or off. Look for a key with a touchpad icon and press the Fn key along with that key.

Restart your laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve hardware issues. Restart your laptop and see if the touchpad starts working again.

Check touchpad settings:

  • Go to the Control Panel or Settings on your laptop and find the touchpad settings. Ensure that the touchpad is enabled and configure any additional settings if needed.

Update touchpad drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted touchpad drivers can cause issues. Visit the official HP website, go to the support section, and download the latest touchpad drivers for your laptop model. Install the drivers and restart your laptop.

Rollback or reinstall drivers:

  • If updating the drivers doesn't help, try rolling back to the previous version or uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad drivers. You can do this through the Device Manager on Windows.

Check for Windows updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up-to-date by checking for and installing any available Windows updates.

Run hardware diagnostics:

  • Some laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools. You can access these tools during the startup process (usually by pressing a specific key). Run a diagnostic test for the touchpad to check for hardware issues.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you can try using the System Restore feature to revert your system to a previous state where the touchpad was working. This will not affect your personal files but will undo system changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
