Hello, I am trying to make a bios recovery flash drive for HP G60 (that has black screen/no windows start up sounds), I go to support, select correct bios download and try to do the procedure but I get stopped because a message says "not for this pc", well obviously it isnt I cant use the G60 because its not working! Im using my other laptop (as suggested to use another working laptop) so I am like stuck in a "catch 22 " type situation. I have the winflash download how can I get it onto a usb drive so as to try it with the G60? I have done the "hold windows key/B key/power button, got long beep and 2 short beeps (very loud) but nothing happens after that.

Hello The Old Man, thanks for replying to first message and then again to next message I made, the problem comes at the point where have to extract to local drive eg C on this laptop, they extract then after that thats when message pops up "bios not for this notebook or pc" and does'nt go any further like in the video whereby the HP system bios update utility screen which says "This is the HP System BIOS Update Utility" with the 3 options update...create...copy I cant get to that stage.

I tried it and it does the same for me. I found conflicting info as to what is realy on the USB recovery drive.
From what it found, you can make your USB recovery drive with what you have already. When you ran the sp45070.exe files it made a folder on your hard drive called C:\SWSetup/SP45070
two folders inside called winphlash64 and winphlash. Open either one and there will be a 360AF54.WPH. Rename that file to 'BIOS.WPH' and copy it to a blank USB drive formatted FAT32.
Here is what I have not found to be clear
move to the waiting pc, with nothing attached, battery remove and a/c unplugged. held the power down for 30 sec.
released the power button. replace all again. plug in the usb drive. and press and hold the B keys and Windows key down for a few seconds. hit the power, held that for about 2 seconds. after a beep or two, the system shuts off. remove the usb drive, reboot.

Hello again, thanks a lot for your help and your detailed reply, I will try that next. (Well when I have fixed the fan wires lol). I went for disassembly yesterday eg remove and reseat the cpu, did that to no avail and fan not running, wires came out of the tiny plug that connects to the motherboard, I will fix that then get laptop back together and powered up and try the procedure which you have explained, Thanks.

Hello The Old Man, would you believe it I have FINALLY resolved the situation, THANKS TO YOUR SUGGESTION of using the 360AF54.WPH. There are two files on the download from HP and both end in wph. On Saturday, after doing some "googling" I followed a sugestion utilising a software called CRISDISK and the .wph file (the one of the two that hasnt got numbers in it) and created a bios flash drive, I used it but it didnt work, got some beeps and the flash drive was active because it was illuminated but the process didnt complete eg laptop did not shut down. SO yesterday I used the file (360AF54.WPH.) that you suggested with CRISDISK to make recovery flash drive and it worked STRAIGHT AWAY! As soon as I released the Windows and B keys there was a beep, I thought "hmmm sounds like POST", then after a short while two beeps, I thought "hey this sounds promising", then after a while the laptop SHUT DOWN, I thought "wow , its done its job". Pressed start button on this laptop whicjh I am on now HP G60 that had the problem and it is totally fine now. So THANKYOU VERY MUCH for your didligent help, I appreciate it. Thing is, I am on Vista right now, (I have 2 hdd only 250 gb each one Vista other win 7) but I cant remember things being this responsive and quick before when I used Vista drive, So my good old faithfull G60 is alive again and seems better than ever thanks to you! THANKS AGAIN, all the best.
