Hi,
I Have a 14-an011na laptop and I'm locked out as I cannot reset the bios password. I have tried all manor of bios reset techniques shown in the forum including completly removing the main power supply, bios battery, main battery, ram and harddrive and have left them diconneted for several days. However even with this extreme when I plug the ram and main power back in (without bios battery, hardrive or laptop battery connected) and boot the laptop from the mains power it still asks for a bios password.
According to this thread https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Bios-password-not-working/td-p/... I need a unique SMC.bin file which I can use to reset the bios password.
I am an IT professional and have never come accross a bios password that is so difficult to reset before, or such an unhelpful product support website. If you input the model in to the hp support site it states that there is no downloadable software or drivers for this machine.
Please supply a solution asap. This laptop is a year old and completly useless due to this issue.

You're welcome
The blog on the following link should be of interest.

Note: If the code is prefixed with a 'i', the Insyde script will not give the correct code.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply, but I have been to that page.
There is NOTHING in the very limited troubleshooting section related to this issue and if I go to the software section there is nothing available!
ISSUE UNRESOLVED I'm afraid.

As this is a consumer class machine, it would likely have a Insyde bios, in which case it should produce a 'System Disabled' code after 3 incorrect entries.
If it does, post back with the code - this should hopefully be a 8 digit number prefixed with either 'I' or 'i'.

Ill confirm all good in about 10 minutes when i get everything plugged back in but looking good!
Thank you so much!
