Hi !

on my hp probook 650 g4, i can't boot from any external device (dvd, usb key); only the ssd drive does. And related to that issue, when changing from the secure to legacy boot in bios; the changes are not saved after reboot! .. I upgraded the bios to 1.26 version, the same happened.

on the ssd drive, in addition to Windows10, i have Debian installed on since 4 years and it is time de reinstall it.

Thanks in advance!

Windows PC some with a BIOS option known as Secure Boot enabled when booting in UEFI mode.  To boot from anything OTHER than the internal drive, you have to go into the UEFI settings and disable Secure Boot.

I know that Linux PCs also have issues with Secure Boot, but my desktop boots three Windows OSs and two Linux distros, and I have no problem with any of them, even though I have Secure Boot disabled.

Thank u for the response
Can u help on how disable Secure boot. In Boot Options, I have only 'UEFI Boot Order' activated by default: no way to change it; and no 'Legacy Boot Order' option listed there.
In 'Secure Boot Configuration' when i try to disable Secure Boot in 'Legacy Support and Secure Boot', it's not taken into account after reboot. All other options on that page are not allowed to changes; but there is some inscription in the bottom 'Request Bios Administrator Credentials to be configured and Secure boot to be enabled' which i don't know what it means !!?

From your comments, it looks like the BIOS has been locked with a password -- and sorry, we are unable to assist you with that as we have no access to that information.
