Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I just created a  windows 11 boot disk on a SD Card.  I first tested it on a dell and it works.  Like the dell, I went into the BIOS to change the boot sequence, but the sequence either is missing or doesnt allow to boot off the Sd card.  Can someone advise why I'm missing the option or it' not allowing?

@Real_Estate_Dad, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding SD Card Boot Option on Victus S10!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Booting from an SD card is not universally supported across all laptops and BIOS configurations. Here are some potential reasons and steps to resolve this issue with your Victus S10:

Check BIOS Settings: Ensure that your BIOS settings allow booting from external storage devices. Sometimes, SD card ports may be disabled for booting by default.

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the specific key during startup (usually F10, F2, or ESC).
  • Navigate to the Boot menu and look for options related to boot devices or boot sequence.
  • Ensure the SD card reader is enabled and included in the boot sequence.

Secure Boot: Modern BIOS settings include Secure Boot, which can prevent booting from unauthorized devices.

  • Go to the Security menu in the BIOS.
  • Disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Support if available.

Check the SD Card Format: The SD card should be correctly formatted and must have a proper bootable structure.

  • Ensure the SD card is formatted as FAT32 or NTFS and the Windows 11 boot files are correctly copied.

Use USB Adapter: If directly booting from the SD card reader is not supported, consider using a USB adapter for your SD card.

  • Place your SD card in a USB SD card reader and try booting from the USB device instead.

BIOS Update: Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version available for your model, which might add the functionality you need.

  • Visit the HP support website and search for BIOS updates for your specific model.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
