Hello

My device doesn't restart normally when ducking station port is connected (to connect a LAN and HDMI cables), and stuck in a black screen after restart loop is finished loading, then I've to complete the process manually by press and hold the power button to force shut down, and boot it again.

Hi @antisocialKSA,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Pavilion laptop when it's connected to a docking station. There could be several reasons for this problem, and here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. You can visit the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest drivers for your system.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. Be careful when updating the BIOS and follow the manufacturer's instructions precisely.
  • Docking Station Compatibility: Confirm that the docking station you are using is compatible with your HP Pavilion laptop. Check the manufacturer's website or documentation for compatibility information and any required firmware updates for the docking station.
  • Power Settings: Adjust your laptop's power settings. Sometimes, issues arise when the laptop is not configured to handle power changes effectively. Go to Power Options in the Control Panel and make sure settings related to sleep, hibernation, and power-saving are configured appropriately.
  • Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Windows updates often include fixes for various compatibility issues.
  • Graphics Settings: Check your graphics settings when the laptop is connected to the docking station. Right-click on the desktop, select "Display settings," and make sure the correct display is selected. You can also try adjusting the display settings to see if that resolves the issue.
  • External Monitor Settings: If you are connecting an external monitor through HDMI, ensure that the monitor and laptop are set to compatible resolutions. Also, check if the monitor supports the HDMI version you are using.
  • Disable Fast Startup: Fast Startup can sometimes cause issues. You can disable it by going to Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Uncheck "Turn on fast startup."
  • Check Event Viewer: Check the Event Viewer for any error messages or warnings related to the restart issue. This can provide more specific information about what might be causing the problem.

Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
