@Desert_fox

Thank you for reaching out!

We understand that your HP ProBook 450 G10 is hanging on reboot after installing software, and this may be caused by HP Wolf Security.
This can happen if Wolf Security’s real-time protection or application containment blocks certain system changes during installation.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Restart the system in Safe Mode

  • Press Shift and click Restart.

  • Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart.

  • Select Safe Mode with Networking.
If the system boots normally here, it’s likely Wolf Security blocking startup processes.

2. Temporarily disable HP Wolf Security

Only for troubleshooting.

  • Open HP Wolf Security Console.

  • Turn off Real-Time Threat Protection and Application Control/Containment.
Restart the system and check whether the issue persists.

3. Add the installed software to Wolf Security exceptions

If the issue stops after disabling Wolf Security:

  • Go to Wolf Security Console

  • Add the application folder to:

    • Application Control Allow List

    • Threat Protection Exclusions

4. Update HP Wolf Security

Sometimes an outdated Wolf Security version causes boot loops.

  • Open HP Support AssistantUpdates

  • Install any HP Wolf Security, BIOS, or firmware updates.

5. Repair or reinstall HP Wolf Security

If the problem continues:

  • Open Apps & Features

  • Search HP Wolf Security

  • Choose Modify / Repair
If repair fails, uninstall Wolf Security temporarily and try rebooting again.

6. Check for pending Windows or driver updates

Incomplete updates can conflict with Wolf Security.

  • Go to Settings → Windows Update

  • Install all updates

  • Reboot again.

Please update us if this helps, and we’ll be glad to assist you further if needed.
