The laptop has a light on when plugged in like it's charging, but it won't turn on or do anything... what do I do?

Is the light flashing? Just had an issue with an HP elitebook, the power light would flash when you plugged it in but the laptop would not power on. Turned out to be a bad ac adapter, not a problem with the laptop. Try to find another power adapter to try first

No the light is solid.... Thank you for the info. I'll try that if I can find a power cord for it.
