HP Pavilion x360 15 Convertible PC 15-er1000 (4R5X0AV)

Turned on laptop, started to come on then off with screen coming on then going dark, this happened multiple times. Had been off and unplugged all weekend. Plugged it in and now the power light on button will light and immediately go back off. Charger light is orange at this point.  I tried holding the power button for 20 seconds or more with laptop unplugged with no effect.  I tried windows + B, then the power but with no luck. Any suggestions

@jamworks, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Laptop Power Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP laptop is experiencing power issues, try the following troubleshooting steps to diagnose and resolve the problem:

Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure the laptop is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it's providing power.

Inspect the Charger and Connections:

  • Verify that the charger is connected securely to both the outlet and the laptop.
  • Examine the charger for any visible damage or fraying of cables.

Reset the Laptop:

  • Disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Hold the power button for at least 20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery, plug in the charger, and attempt to power on the laptop.

Check for Error Lights:

  • Look for any flashing LEDs on the laptop. These can indicate specific errors which may be detailed in the user manual or support documents. Refer to these for diagnostic interpretation.

Verify Battery Status:

  • If the battery is removable, try powering the laptop on without the battery but while it's connected to the charger. If it powers on, the battery may need replacement.

Hardware Reset:

  • For models with a pinhole reset button, use a pin to press the reset button. This might resolve any hardware lock-up issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
