Hi @Patya1
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for explaining the issue so clearly. It’s genuinely frustrating when something as basic as plugging in headphones doesn’t work—especially on a laptop like the HP Pavilion 13 series, where audio clarity is essential.
Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help restore your 3.5mm jack functionality.
Step-by-Step Fix for 3.5mm Jack Not Working
1. Test the Headphones and Port
- Try a different pair of headphones to rule out connector mismatch
- Gently insert the jack and check for a firm click—loose seating can prevent detection
2. Enable Hidden Playback Devices
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Sounds
- Go to the Playback tab
- Right-click in the blank area and enable:
- Show Disabled Devices
- Show Disconnected Devices
- If Headphones appear, right-click → Enable → Set as Default Device
3. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Press Windows + X → Device Manager
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek or Intel) → Update driver
- If no update is found, uninstall the device and restart—Windows will reinstall it automatically
You can also download the latest audio driver from the HP Pavilion 13 driver page by entering your exact model number.
4. Run HP Support Assistant
- Open or install HP Support Assistant
- Go to Troubleshooting and Fixes > Audio Check
- Follow the prompts to detect and repair audio issues
5. Check Windows Audio Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter
- Locate and restart:
- Windows Audio
- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Let me know what happens after these steps—I’ll guide you through the next phase if needed. You’re clearly being thorough and proactive, and this kind of issue deserves a clean resolution.
