Hello guys I've been struggling to install a m2 drive on my pc after one auto update...
ive made a lot of tests and I can't seem to find my driver in windows installation...
Its all pointing to a bios update my pc, coz in the DRIVERS AND SUPPORT there is a newer version of BIOS (that's the one I'm trying to install)
and my present bios version is 1.3, and when I access BIOS in my pc, I can't change to legacy mode or anything, so I'm thinking the pc is not recognising the drivers because after the update the BIOS automatically has set a type of socket recognition and I can't change it so I need to flash an USB with the new bios version and update it, but HERE is the PROBLEM =
the DRIVER in the website DOESNT WORK.. I can extract the first bit but when I click on the BIOS_update file it does not open... I tried in several PCs and its always the same issue... I would like to know if HP could fix this driver or point me another driver I could download which won't damage my computer updating the BIOS....
obs: over 100 views and no one replied yet please i have this problem for 3 weeks now!!!

Hi@LucasMiranda,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Pavilion Laptop PC not able to install M.2 drive after update.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
Click here for the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10) link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

hello mate thanks for the reply...
Im not sure u read properly what I wrote but I just said up there that the
BIOS DRIVER ON THE WEBSITE FOR THIS RESPECTIVE LAPTOP IS NOT WORKING...
I double click it and nothing happens it doesn't pop up the window for me to make it flash up on my usb....
I need HP to fix this issue so I can update my bios via USB ....but I don't even know who to ask for ...
I need to access a more advanced updated bios so I can change things in boot options....
I would like to know if there are any other BIOS drivers I could use for this model .. because I know updating the BIOS is dangerous

HP bios updates are meant to be installed through windows. There may be a way around it to do it in a conventional way, but I don't know it.
Which brings me to ask if the problem you are having is a chipset driver you need for an OS install on your new ssd or what. You may just need to have a chipset driver on your OS install flash drive.

Hello mate thanks for replaying...
well the problem is that the BIOS is not recognising the M.2 drive after an windows update...
I've read several forums online and its an issue that's happening to this late laptop gens...
its a big problem because my laptop only has M.2 storage ports... the update must have changed the socked recognition or some kind of boot option... and my bios is a very simple one....
Yes there is a way to update the bios without windows.... its flashing an usb ....
so HP has a broken driver in their website and they can't fix it.. yesterday spent an hours just to explain this to them...

Hi@LucasMiranda, @pbroussard,
Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.
I apologize for the Inconvenience. Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help to improve computer performance, provide support for hardware components or Windows upgrades, or install specific BIOS updates. CAUTION: Only install BIOS updates from HP.
Please click on this link for Updating the BIOS.
Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance.
Have a great day!

Hi@LucasMiranda,
Thank you for responding, I appreciate your time and effort.
Check if the latest BIOS is available in HP support assistant.
Try downloading the BIOS on to a USB and then install it from the USB on the PC.
