Microsoft Windows 11

The battery charging led indicator is not working. Its don't light up the orange or white colour. But my laptop charges normally and can run on battery without plugged in too.I ran battery and adapter test and there's no issue in it.Also I did some troubleshooting like hard reset by holding power button for 30sec and by uninstalling the drivers shown under battery section in device manager and even tried changing my charger with other charger of my same model.I updated my drivers, software and bios. The laptop works normally as it supposed to do but the charging indicator is not working at all.Not even in 100% and not in low charge state too

Hi @zoro003,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on the information you've provided, it is encouraging that:

  • The laptop charges normally.
  • The battery powers the system correctly when the adapter is disconnected.
  • HP battery and AC adapter diagnostics pass successfully.
  • BIOS, drivers, and software are fully updated.
  • The behavior remains the same even with another compatible charger.

Since all charging functions are operating as expected, the issue appears to be limited to the charging status LED indicator rather than the battery, adapter, or charging circuitry itself.

At this stage, there are no additional software troubleshooting steps available beyond those you have already completed. The behavior may be related to the LED indicator circuit or its control logic, but the exact cause cannot be confirmed through software diagnostics alone.

You can continue to monitor charging status using the Windows battery icon and HP Support Assistant | HP® Support, as the missing LED indicator should not affect battery charging performance.

If the device is still under warranty and the indicator functionality is important to you, I recommend contacting HP Support for a hardware inspection. An HP technician can verify whether the LED indicator circuitry requires service.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day.

I'm an HP Employee.
