My HP Pavilion 15-eh0011 notebook is displaying the message "Battery Counterfeit Check Error." It's the original battery, and the battery hasn't been replaced. I tried checking for BIOS and driver updates, but no new versions are available, and it's up to date. The error started appearing after an update to Windows Update.
What can be done to resolve the error?

@Bastian_, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Counterfeit Check Error!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" indicates that your system has detected a third-party battery which may not comply with HP's standards. However, since you mentioned that the battery is original and hasn't been replaced, the issue might be due to a software glitch or recent changes from Windows Update. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and try resolving the error:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
Performing a hard reset can help clear the error by re-establishing the connection between the BIOS and hardware components.
- Turn off the computer.
- Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
- Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
- Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
- Disconnect the battery (if accessible).
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the computer.
- Press the power button to turn on the computer.
- If a startup menu appears, use the arrow keys to select “Start Windows Normally,” and then press the enter key.
- After reconnecting each of the peripheral devices, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.
2. Reset BIOS to Default Settings
Resetting the BIOS to its default settings might help clear any configuration issues causing the error.
- Reboot the computer.
- Press F10 during startup to access the BIOS setup utility.
- Select Main and then choose Restore defaults.
- Save and exit the BIOS setup utility.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
