Battery issues on a 15 month old laptop

Good day! (Well, mostly)

I have a notebook which I purchased last April for school as my other laptop was too slow. I was very pleased with my notebook until the battery stopped charging or is failing to retain a charge. The warranty has expired and replacing the battery appears difficult as the HP service locations have sent me elsewhere as they have none in stock. Searching online has yielded an option but will require a service professional to install. As a student and in the current pandemic climate does anyone have a solution? I can't be without my pc as I require it for both school and work. 

Desperately needing help.

You have answered part of your own question in that if you cannot be without the computer, you have to change out the battery yourself.  If you have never ventured inside a computer case, know that replacing the battery sounds scary but the actual process is not so difficult.

HP does not carry the replacement though I do see the part number listed at other merchants, including Amazon.
