I just got a nice laptop, a 15-ef2126wm.

I eat and drink a lot while using it (wfh a lot), and I learned to use a keyboard cover with my last laptop after spilling something on it and needing to replace the keyboard.

Problem is, after buying one, I noticed that the fan would turn on an awful lot, as it was blocking some heat from escaping. The fan stopping running as often when I just took the keyboard cover off.

I am looking at the keyboard for my new HP laptop, and see that there are fewer vents for air to be released than with the old one. So now I'm wondering if using a keyboard cover would make this one overheat.

Are there dedicated keyboard covers that are designed to allow for heat to go through or around them?

Thanks for the link, I was able to find a few on amazon like that.

My question is, would this laptop be susceptible to overheating because of this? Or is there a special type of keyboard cover that someone makes, that would still allow for heat to pass through or around? I guess not, in that if heat could pass around it, so could liquids. But I did want to ask here, before buying one.

I don't really think there is a special type of keyboard cover that will prevent overheating since most of these keyboard covers are designed to protect your laptop from spillage without directly sacrificing the health of the laptop that way.

I feel the designers of these covers will want you to use them because water may spill on the laptop but they may have also thought of keyboard key spacing that should allow air to pass through and thus perhaps due to human design errors these covers may trap heat but it is best to buy one and learn from experience than stressing whether it will overheat your laptop.

So the best bet may be to buy a cover that look transparent and not glossy or metal like.
