Hi @Bt_2301,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY x360 Laptop is displaying a "Hard Disk Error 3F0" boot device not found message on a black screen, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Restore BIOS Default Settings

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the power button to restart the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to save and exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select "Yes," and then press Enter to confirm exiting while saving changes.
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

2. Update the BIOS

  • Updating your BIOS might help resolve the issue. Visit the HP Support website to check for the latest BIOS updates for your model.

3. Perform the Hard Drive Symptom Test in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Restart the computer by pressing the power button and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (about once every second). When the menu is displayed, press the F2 key.
  3. Click on "Symptom Tests" on the main menu.
  4. Select "Hard drive/SSD drive issue," and then press Enter.
  5. If the computer has multiple hard drives, select the drive to test or choose "Test All Hard Drives."
  6. If any hard drive test fails, follow the on-screen troubleshooting instructions.

4. Reinstall Windows on the Hard Drive

  • You can reinstall Windows through the Windows Recovery Environment using F11 during startup or by using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool. This might involve resetting the computer, which can help resolve the issue.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
