Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I have a 17t-3200 CTO laptop (A6u49av) that cannot read more than 1,6TB. A new bios update was released by HP for the same name of the Insyde BIOS chip but for a different laptop. Is it safe to update my BIOS with it? I hope since its newer it will support external hdds above 2TB. ITs the same F.0B BIOS.

Thanks!

If HP has not placed that BIOS on the support page for your model do not try to use it. The 2 TB limit on storage is a creature of how the partition table on the drive itself is set up. Has to be GUID/GPT and not MBR to make a partition bigger than nominal 2 TB. The BIOS only has to be UEFI complaint and yours should be.

I partitioned the HDD to GPT, still it only shows 1,63TB
