Microsoft Windows 11

This is my dad's pc and the ssd just died after only a year. Does this laptop support NVME? It would be a nice upgrade, but I mainly can't find a sata m.2 drive easily RN and we need something soon. This laptop is just outside warranty. We have had to reset the PC 3 times now because it refuses to boot after an update. We've been able to recover a few times but it now refuses to boot out of safe mode even after a full reinstall. Drive already has some bad attributes, like reallocated sectors.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.

If your notebook has an Intel Core processor, it has a M.2 slot that supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.

Notebooks with the Pentium/Celeron processors normally don't come with M.2 slots.

thanks for the link, and it does say it supports it, but i have tried both a sata and an nvme drive and neither was detected

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know why neither type drive works when the service manual indicates they are supported.
