Hi,

 

Since last update of the laptop to W10 version 22H2, the elan touchpad stops working properly and became crazy. We understand to this point that it is necessary an update of the driver to this new version which we are missing. Model of our laptop is 14-dk1006ns. We do have another one from Lenovo with the same problem for which we received the corresponding update and everything was perfectly fine afgterwards therefore, asking if any similar update from HP to solve the issue with the touchpad becoming totally useless after last update of W10.

 

Any ideas?

Here's how to resolve the Elan touchpad issue on your HP 14-dk1006ns laptop after updating to Windows 10 version 22H2:

Uninstall the Current Elan Touchpad Driver:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click on Elan Touchpad and choose Uninstall device.
  • Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop.

Download the Latest Driver from HP:

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your product name.
  • Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as your OS.
  • Look under the Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices section for the latest Elan Touchpad Driver.
  • Download and install the driver.
  • Restart your laptop again.

Run Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates to ensure all system components are up to date.

Those steps are the ones we already followed before with no success at all. Actually, now we did it again with the insatisfactory result. The moment we start using the touchpad it becomes crazy and it is impossible to use. Again, this starts happenin the moment our W10 was updated. Also, I can see that there are many other users with the same issue while the download driver option at the support area is very old so we do understand that it is necessary an update version of the driver from HP to align with the new version of Windows.  Same is happening to other of our HP laptop and Lenovo with the same touchpad version however for the latter we could get an update version of the driver and everything was solved still pending to solve the issue with the HPs.
