Hello,

 

On my EliteBook 850 G8, I can see the Smart Card Reader on the left side of the laptop. There is something silver blocking the opening. I tried pushing on it with a paperclip and it did not open.

 

Does this silver piece mean my laptop didn't come with the smart card reader?

Hello @triggz00 

 

The <smart card reader> is optional, if it was not ordered the module is not installed ! Check your order/invoice.

This could be the reason why a cover is attached, because there is no reader installed !

Slots
(1) Nano SIM card slot (not accessible without WWAN)
NOTE: 
All units have a SIM card stray but units that do not support WWAN are shipped with a non-removable SIM slot plug.
(1) Smartcard reader (optional)
(1) Nano security lock slot (lock sold separately)
