HP EliteBook 845 14 inch G10 Notebook PC (70A43AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I use an Elitebook 845 G10. Previously the backlight button on the keyboard worked normally. In January I updated to the 1.07 BIOS version released in December. Now the keyboard backlight will not activate under any circumstances when toggled from the keyboard (F9 or Fn+F9), and when I go into the BIOS settings to make sure it's enabled the options for the keyboard backlight that were present in 1.06 are now missing. I checked against another of the same model with a working backlight that was still on 1.06 and confirmed that those settings are present in the BIOS on that laptop. The Power, Caps Lock, and Fn indicator lights are all working on the problem laptop.

I figured this out! I rolled back to 1.06 but continued to experience the problem and the missing options, so I opened up the laptop to check for possible hardware issues. It turned out that one of the ribbon cables from the keyboard assembly was not connected to the system board. Reseating the cable fixed the issue completely.
