First - I had to select the 8470P because 8470W was not in the Product drop-down list.
A mouse button on my Elitebook 8470W's touchpad has failed and I need to replace the touchpad.
The failed button is the left lower button - the touchpad has two sets of "mouse" buttons and the upper, nearest to the keyboard, buttons work but I am forever hitting the mouse button (right below the space bar) when reaching for the upper mouse buttons.
I had the upper buttons disabled but enabled them to at least give me a left mouse button.
See David_Schwartzs' reply to https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/Disable-Touchpad-BUTTONS-on-an-El... to learn how to disable those **bleep** upper buttons.
I have found and ordered a replacement top cover/assembly (touchpad is part of it) but I cannot find instructions for removing the top cover/assembly for the 8470W just the 8470P
I've downloaded the service manual but there are no instructions for removal of the top cover/assembly or, as it is referred to some places as the "palm rest."
Is the procedure for the 8479P the same as for the 8470P?
Bob
