HP ZBook 15v G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I've just bought HP Zbook 15v g5 and want to enable "High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock" to connect 3 monitors through my docking station (G4 docking station) having 1920x1080 resolution for each monitor.

Without this setting enabled, 3rd monitor has a maximum resolution of 640x480.

My previous HP laptop had that support, the only thing I did - enabled the setting mentioned above in the Advanced BIOS tab.

I'm unable to do that as Advanced settings are missing in BIOS (Insyda). I have an Intel-based laptop and updated firmware to the latest version - F.27. I see there is no way to unlock Advanced BIOS settings due to instructions here in HP forums.

Is there any way to enable "High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock" not through BIOS but using a software?

@DmytroShapar

The G4 dock supports

  • Single display: up to 3840 x 1440 @ 60Hz
  • Dual display: up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz
  • Triple display: up to 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz

Firstly,  you can't get 3 FHD screens, no matter what. As we know, resolution and refresh rates will go opposite way: refresh rate goes up, resolution will go down.  Please use the right combination on your 3 monitors to get right results.

Regards.

Hi @Banhein,

Thank you for the answer, but on my previous laptop, I was able to setup 1920x1080 (59Hz) for three monitors after enabling High-Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock.

I am just wondering if I'm able to set that setting somehow or connect three monitors with 1920x1080 resolution on some other way.

Could you help with that?
