Love this laptop but it just keeps on overheating while charging. It gets worse when you I leave it on sleep mode and close the monitor.

Hi@mackytamayo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing Overheating issues with the HP ENVY 13-Ay0000 X360 Convertible Laptop PC.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
- You can do Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
Click here for the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10)
If the issue still persists then it could be a hardware issue.
For any hardware issue or repair please click on the link Phone Assist Worldwide
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

I have the exact same problem. I can't even use my laptop while charging due to the fan being so loud and my laptop being very hot, it's very annoying. I'm unable to watch movies due to not even being able to hear the sound. When I close my laptop while charging the laptop will overheat even more and won't stop until I open my laptop again and close it for a second time without my charger in. Did you find a solution yet?

Hello Mackytamayo,
(1) Update BIOS
HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors) | F.21 Rev.A | 14.5 MB | May 20, 2022 | Download |
(2) Update all drivers in one place
HP Support Assistant | 9.7.433.0 Rev.A | 162.2 MB | May 13, 2021 | Download |
(3) In case your notebook has still warranty, contact HP !
=> Test again ...
Please report your results.
best regards
