I found this laptop in the garage, and when i tried to boot it, it gave me an error message, specifically error code 3F0. I dont understand why, because when i did a storage test it detected it, and i tested it on my home computer and it had windows 10 on it. it may be bios related as when i first booted it i got a bios battery update or something, i dont remember.

i have done some experimenting with the laptop, my crucial p3 ssd works perfectly fine on the laptop, and the laptops ssd works fine on my other computer, so the laptop ssd is detected, has windows 10, and works on the other computer, and the other computers ssd has windows 10, works on the laptop, and on itself. but the laptops ssd, WITH WINDOWS, AND DETECTED BY THE LAPTOP, does not work.

Hi @johnguard,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Your HP Omen 15 is showing error code 3F0 (“Boot Device Not Found”) even though the drive is detected. This usually points to boot configuration issues rather than a failed SSD. The below steps can help restore boot functionality.

Restore BIOS Default Settings

Resetting BIOS defaults can correct boot configuration errors.

Turn on → press F10 → BIOS Setup

Turn off the computer and wait five seconds

Press power button, repeatedly press F10

On BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to load defaults

Press F10 to Save and Exit

Select "Yes" when asked "Exit Saving Changes?"

Follow prompts to restart

Run Hard Drive Symptom Test

HP Diagnostics can confirm if the drive is healthy.

Turn on → press Esc → F2 → Symptom Tests

Hold power button 5 seconds to turn off

Turn on, press Esc repeatedly, then F2

On main menu, click Symptom Tests

Select Hard disk/SSD drive issue

Choose drive to test or Test All Hard Drives

If Quick Test passes but issues remain, run Extensive Test

If drive fails, click Troubleshoot and follow instructions

Update the BIOS

Caution

Installing the latest BIOS can resolve boot errors.

Only install BIOS updates from HP

Go to HP support page for your model

Follow instructions for updating BIOS

If managed by IT, contact them for correct process

Reinstall Windows

Last Resort

If boot configuration is corrupted, reinstalling Windows restores functionality.

Use Windows Recovery (F11) or HP Cloud Recovery Tool

Back up all important data first

Use Windows Recovery Environment (F11) to reset

Or use HP Cloud Recovery Tool for factory image

If no drives found, see HP guide for Intel 11th Gen processors

After reinstall, run Windows Update to refresh drivers and firmware

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
