OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xd0000 (758R0AV)

Hello, I recently purchased an HP Omen 16-xd0007AX, with a 1TB SSD pre-installed.

I wish to know if it has a 2nd M.2 SSD Slot. IF not, will it support a 2TB SSD in the sole slot?

Hello Paul_Tikkanen,

Thank you for responding!

I did open the laptop, and unfortunately it only has 1 SSD slot, even though I have a 7840HS. Maybe the 2 slots are only for Intel? I'm not sure.

Funnily enough, I have written communication from HP's official support confirming the presence of 2 SSD slots, based on which I procured an extra SSD.

Hi:

You will have to open up the notebook and check.

The service manual indicates that the 'full featured' models have support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's.

See chapter 5, page 36.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

The thing is...HP does not provide any specifics as to the difference between a full featured model and a limited feature model.

I know that on some notebooks with the Intel processors, the HX processors have two NVMe slots and the H processors have one NVMe slot.

Maybe it is the same logic for the AMD platforms...the HS processors have two slots, and the H processors have one.

With one or two slots, HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 2 TB in the model series, so you should have no problem installing a 2 TB NVMe SSD in your notebook.

You're very welcome,  and thanks for confirming that the notebooks with the AMD HS processors don't have a second SSD slot either.

So, the mystery remains...What's a full featured model?

In the future, I'm going to say that the model series only has support for one M.2 SSD
